Where Love Lay Sleeping

Where Love Lay Sleeping – Dreamscape

I laid me down upon a bank,
Where Love lay sleeping;
I heard among the rushes dank
Weeping, weeping.

Keep Your $25.00 + Artography

{ insert nervous nail-biting here}

{perhaps a lil’ hand wringing too}

{whew. anyone have a cloth to dab at my these bits of perspiration on my forehead?}

Ok. Um.

Just get through my ramblings.. there’s something in it for you, I promise – cash!

well, kinda.

{gosh, it is so scary unveiling something new!}

{just spit it out Christy, you can do it!}

I have been working night and day towards the launch of my new Artography website; and it is oh-so-painfully close to being complete .. I can practically taste it. (Aside: who made up that saying? It really is a bit ridiculous). If you think getting to this point for that site was at all wallet-draining or so frustrating I contemplated stabbing myself in the leg with a fork, you’d be absolutely correct! (Any web designers want to barter on my remaining sites?)

Truly, it is a maddening experience building an e-store when your coding knowledge is minimal and frankly it is still stuck in the dinosaur (simpler) age of HTML. I’d gladly hire it out if I could. I’d recommend that route to anyone, even my worst enemies. Well not that one person.. ok, ok  maybe even them. W O W. It really was that painful eh?

That being said – I am pretty pleased with the new home for my Artography prints. There is some information I need to plug in, some prints I need to add, some features I wish it had, and some limitations I wish it didn’t.. but really, is anything ever perfect? I am hoping to get some feedback from y’all on it (hint, hint!) and a few sales wouldn’t hurt either.

Since I need to rely on the kindness of y’all for feedback on the site as well as the ordering process.. I figured I’d do something for you too.  How does $25.00 cash sound? Awesome? I thought so! That’s what you can keep per 16×20 print with the sale prices I have for y’all.

Ok, so maybe that approach was marginally sketchy. But it doesn’t make it any less true.

Great gift ideas for the upcoming holiday season – and I promise not to tell if it is a gift for yourself! You deserve it, you really do.

I will hold a formal opening in the next couple of weeks, after I finish adding all the content. There will be a 5 day sale – but the discounts won’t be this deep. In fact, they won’t be this deep for at least another 6+ months… so it is a FABULOUS time to stock up, and snag what you love; if you have to go beg your significant other – I give my full permission!

In all seriousness, I can’t thank y’all enough for the continued support. I really need it right now. Please pass this sale on … it means more to me than you will ever know & please don’t hesitate to ask me any questions regarding it – or to give me constructive feedback on the new site.

With gratitude (and maybe a touch of greed – though is it greed to make a living? hmm…) and a thankful heart,

Why are you still here? GO! SHOP!

Chronicles of Yarnia

{Warning: } Fiber & Yarn addicts beware – heart palpitations, shortness of breath, overwhelming feelings of excitement and immensely loud shrieks of joy may ensue when noticing that the following post contains:

  • Ideas, Inspiration & Resources
  • (practically) Free Lush Novelty Yarns
  • Ramblings of a Nearly Mad Woman

Can it get ANY better than that? Well, probably so… but that would kinda kill the whole intro thingamijig I got goin’ on here.. so humor me, please?

 Yarn Porn

I seriously have  a love affair with fibers. I don’t knit. I no longer crochet – but I could never, ever get enough yarn. The root of the ‘problem’ lies in my childhood where sacred half-days of school resulted in a trip to K-Mart with Gramma to pick out a skein, and an absolutely delightful afternoon of crafts using the newly purchased yarn.  Heaven. Stories I will share another day.

Moving on….

Remember when I used to peddle all those luxurious fibers in my (soon-to-close) supply store … I amassed quite a collection, despite selling out of 80% of them and as some of you may know, I will be moving out-of-state in the upcoming months, and considerably downsizing my living space – ie, stuff. must. go. Let’s insert a moment of silence as we mourn the supplies I will be giving up for the greater good.

Hold on… still a sniffle here.

Ok. Better now. Back to my point – it is a classic tale of my loss = your gain. The (practically) free posts I have done in the past have gone so wonderfully well, I decided to do it again – this time with my *sniff* beloved fibers. The rules are basically the same.

Why am I offering these practically free?

Firstly, to save me the headache & time consuming process of measuring, photographing, and describing each item. There are days worth of work within these boxes … and I just can’t find the time right now. Offering them like this, saves me from doing that workload — I’d charge more, but I know I’d hate spending alot on supplies sight unseen. Trust me though, these are all quality fibers that I either purchased to use myself, or sell in the store.  The value of each box is over what you are paying.

I’d rather share these with folks who can provide a loving home than simply toss them away! Besides, I got my start thanks to some incredibly kind individuals who cut me a break, this is partially my way of giving that gift back. If i didn’t need to make back some of the cost on these, I would gift them.. sadly, I am not in that financial position right now.

That being said – I have up for grabs so far:

now 0 Flat Rate Priority Mail Boxes  STUFFED with fibers

$30.00 a box  (fee includes shipping & paypal fees)

(Each box holds between 25-35 kinds of fiber)

Yards & yards + pounds and pounds of high quality, now hard to find, lush fibers  for you. The yardage per skein varies, some are full skeins, some just missing a yard or too, some only have 5-10 yards or so left.   Each deliciously stuffed-to-the-rim box has assorted styles, cuts & types -there are chenille fibers, boucle, eyelash, ladder, pom-pom, ribbon yarns & a whole lot more. The mosaic photos here show a sampling of what is in some of the boxes. Each box is different!

Need some inspiration on what you can do with these lush fibers?

How to claim 1 of the 7 boxes:

  • First come, first served.
  • US Only – the flat rate box prices internationally are typically high. If they aren’t all claimed by US folks within a week, I will expand it.
  • Shipping can’t be combined if ordering more than one box, they are priced for the flat rate boxes & already packed up awaiting their new homes.
  • Paypal the $30.00 to khryctee (at) bellsouth.net … be sure to include your mailing address. If by chance all 7 sell out before I can update here, I will promptly refund your moolah. First paid/come, first served. Comment here that you took one too if you would – so folks know if I can’t get here quickly enough.
  • Promise to give them a good home, and have a wildly creative ball with them.

I’ve always done things the hard way. I was born like a piece of tangled yarn. The job is trying to untangle it, and I’ll probably go on doing it for the rest of my life. ” -Karen Allen

Wishing ewe (yarn puns, can’t control myself) many creative joys – Chrysti.

P.S. – Have a link to a unique novelty yarn project? Comment here with it, and I’ll add it to the post if it suits!

(practically) Free Ephemera/Foreign Text Lots here!

Remember the (practically) free fabric lots  & the (practically) free rubber stamp lots i have offered in the past? Well, with the closing of The Altered Abbey approaching and the total overhaul I am working on for my business, I am left with massive amounts of foreign text that i used to create the bestselling foreign text kits. They are just far too time consuming to keep stocked, so they are among the things I will no longer be selling.

My loss, your gain. I was feeling under the weather & out of commission yesterday, and the night before… during that time I created a bunch no frill, no fuss text kits to offer y’all while watching TV… read on.

Why am I offering these practically free?

Firstly, to save me the headache & time consuming process of measuring, photographing, and describing each item. There is days worth of that kind of work within these boxes … and I just can’t find the time or motivation right now.

Offering them like this, saves me from doing that workload — I’d charge more, but I know I’d hate spending alot on supplies sight unseen. Trust me though, these are all quality supplies that I either purchased to use myself, or sell in the store. Any flaws, or risks are noted below.

Secondly, I’m in a rush to clean out the store inventory. My studio and office is already overrun with supplies and I’d rather share these with folks who can appreciate it, then toss them away! Besides, I got my start thanks to some incredibly kind individuals who cut me a break, this is partially my way of giving that gift back. The value of each box is over what you are paying.

With that being said, here’s what I have to offer this time:

No Fuss/ No Frill Foreign Text Kits!  – same as what I carry in my store, but a heckuvalot more product for far less cash. These are no frill kits however — they are not packaged in plastic, or backed with cardboard. You may receive some bent pages, you may receive some torn pages… but all are great for collage & mixed media-work. The text is jam-packed into Priority Mail Flat Rate envelopes as is – they are bulging over, and weights are noted below.  I stashed some aside for myself too. You get the same variety I was known for carrying — not just pounds from one book (boring!) –woot! Some pages are vintage, some more modern, a variety fo fonts and styles and paper textures. Some pages have illustrations, some don’t — it’s a potluck that I think you’ll love.

Just want one or 2? They are priced at $10.00 per envelope- (which includes the $5.00 for shipping). So you get approx. 2lbs of foreign text for just $5.00 — way cool.

Want more than 2 envelopes?  I can toss them into a flat rate box to save you on shipping. 4 will just fit in  box – and the cost for shipping, and the text will only be $30.00 for 4, or $25.00 for 3 packs.

Offer is only open to US folks at this time – sorry! If they don’t all sell before I travel for the holidays (early Tuesday am) … I’ll open them up to international artists upon my return in the new year.

 3 Spanish Flat Rate Envelope Kits – approx. 2lbs a piece all taken

1 Danish Flat Rate Envelope Kit – approx. 2lbs  all taken

4 Now just 2 Left! Asian Flat Rate Envelope Kits – approx. 2 – 3 lbs a piece (two interested in but not yet paid for)

French Flat Rate Envelope Kits – approx. 2lbs a piece  all taken

1 Mostly French with a bit of other languages Flat Rate Envelope Kit – approx. 2lbs all taken

4   Foreign Language Variety Flat Rate Envelope Kits – approx. 2 lbs a piece  all taken

 2 German Flat Rate Envelope Kits – approx. 2lbs a piece  all taken

1 German & Asian Flat Rate Envelope Kit – approx. 2lbs

1 French & German Flat Rate Envelope Kit – approx. 2lbs all taken

To claim one (or more) leave a comment here, making sure to state which ones you want from the list above; you can wait for me to respond or send me the paypal payment right away at khryctee[at]bellsouth.net. In the event someone else claimed it, I’ll promptly refund it like always. I’ll edit this post as I receive payments, to reflect what has been claimed. Paypal Only. First come/paid, first served.

The catch is – you need to do this by tomorrow night, since I’ll be out of town for 2 weeks starting Tuesday am. I’ll get them all mailed prior to going, if paid for by Monday, December 22nd at 9 pm est. If they don’t all sell, i’ll revisit this upon my return!

I hope you’ll show me some of the creations you make using these!

Any questions? Just let me know!

Happy Holidays!,

Day 15/29 Days of Giving is…

“Let the refining and improving of your own life keep you so busy that you have little time to criticize others.” -H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

I’m keeping it short & simple tonight folks! Have a few small orders to get packed & shipped out and a laundry list of to-do’s that need tackling before I go home for the holidays.

As a quick FYI and almost shameless plug, it’s the last 24 hours to order from my store and have it shipped before I leave… I haven’t advertised yet that I am basically going out of business – so grab what you want now, before I promote it – more will be added as time permits too. If you do make an order tonight/tomorrow I’ll also email you another collage sheet from here upon request. Just sweetening the pot!I’m in the process of converting all the collage sheets I formerly sold (before my 2 good printers passed on to wherever it is printers go when they die)… to be sold as my line of print-your-own digital collage sheets .. anyway …. while working on this tonight I thought what a simple giveaway that EVERYONE can receive! Love that.

My cat is so cute when she snores. Yeah, I know – nothin’ to do with this. Just sayin’!

I’m giving you a plethora of choices, so pick your favorite by name and let me know what it is in the comments section – be sure to use a valid email address or you won’t receive it! You will also need the free Adobe Reader to open these.

I’m only sending these out until Sunday – so act fast if you want one!

Pick any collage sheet from this set of mine on flickr EXCEPT the Inching Along series. Sorry, it’s not eligible.

Let’s recap:
  • On this post in the comments section – let me know which collage sheet you want. Nothin’ else tonight – since I’m taking the easy road, I’m letting you take it too! But feel free to share if you’d like!
  • Do this by: Sunday, December 21th, 2008 – emails & comments received after that, will not be honored.
  • PLEASE keep Spreading  the word! Blog it, Tell your friends — the works! I’m amazed daily at the impact this project is having on people. I want it to be contagious, plus it fuels me to make it bigger & better!
  •  Enter Day 0Day 10 & Day 11 & Day 12 & Day 13 & Day 14
  • Check out the first batch of winners!
  • Check out  second batch of winners! Is it you?
  •       “One of the things I learned the hard way was that it doesn’t pay to get discouraged. Keeping busy and making optimism a way of life can restore your faith in yourself.” -unknown

    You can also check out the free vintage images & textures I have on flickr for you – I’m gonna be moving most of them off there in the upcoming months so keep that in mind and snatch ’em while ya can!

    Warmly, Chrysti

    On the road….

    Sunset Road

    Just a quick post, as I am out of town currently and madly trying to finish up the last of my preperations for my workshop this weekend at the much anticipated convenZioNE. I am overhwhelmed yet excited, nervous but thrilled… and I’m really looking forward to meeting some of you that I’ve been lucky enough to get to know online over the years…. It’s always a bit odd at first, but it amazes me how quickly we become comfortable with one another. I’m sure my tummy will be in knots though!

    I’ll be flying cross-country to Cali tomorrow afternoon, hopefully jet-lag won’t get me too badly…think good thoughts for me please! I haven’t been on a flight that long in years… and haven’t been to California since I was 16…oy!

    I may blog, if I get a moment — but it looks unlikely that I’ll have the time… you can however, keep up with me over at Twitter… I LOVE that I can text updates & cell phone pics there. When I return, I’ll announce the winner of the contest — and am extending entries on it til I get back as well….so be sure to enter!

    And for those of you in the Cali area.. stop by my booth at the Art, Paper, Pleasantries event on Sunday, and say you read my blog — You’ll get to pick a free gift – no purchase necessary! It’s just a small way, I can spread my excitement. I’ll have some original artwork, a few prints, paper dolls, skeleton leaves, ribbon, handmade paper kits, embellishments, tons of $1.00 items and a whole lot more for sale! I am thinking about selling my displays at cost too, at end of day to avoid shipping them back – so if you’re there, let me know you are interested!

    Have an artful few weeks — and I look forward to blogging regularly again in September, and gushing over all the news this creativity fest will bring!
